Mangalitsa Sow |
According to Wikipedia:
“Mangalitsa is a name for
three breeds of pig grown especially in Hungary and the Balkans known also as a
curly-hair hog. It belongs to
European unimproved lard-type breeds that are descended directly from wild boar
populations. The Mangalitsa was
formerly bred as a lard pig, and the animals were large and round. Because of the drop in demand for lard,
the breed’s popularity has declined and is now regarded as a “rare breed”.
Hi, congrats on bringing Mangalitsa to Vermont. I am wondering if you are yet putting any of your pigs to market as pork? Looking forward to hearing from you.
